Do I need a driver’s license?
Yes. A qualifying moped and a larger scooter have different licensing rules. The rental provider must confirm your license is accepted and that you meet its rental requirements. The providers listed here require renters to be at least 18.
Can two people ride one moped?
No. A conventional two-wheel moped carries the driver only. Each rider needs a separate moped. Larger scooters and qualifying three-wheel vehicles are different categories.
Is a helmet required in Hawaii?
Yes. Hawaii’s current moped law requires a securely fastened safety helmet for every driver. Confirm the provider supplies a helmet that fits.
Is this the full amount I’ll pay?
The comparison shows the published base rental for your selected period and number of mopeds. Taxes, mandatory fees and optional coverage are extra. A deposit or card hold is separate. Confirm the complete quote and cancellation policy with your provider.
What happens when I request a LocalFriend quote?
We save your rental preferences, budget and email in our private request inbox. The LocalFriend team reviews your request and contacts you about options. It is not a reservation, and no payment is taken. For an urgent rental, check directly with a provider.
Who handles my booking and payment?
Review your rental plan, save or copy the details, and continue to the provider’s website. Re-enter your dates and quantity there to check availability, pay and receive confirmation. A LocalFriend plan is not a reservation.
